Favorite Swimsuits for the First Day of Summer

Hello 1st day of SUMMER!!! Today I’m talking swimwear! And all the ladies said “Ughhh!” I personally don’t know anyone that says they absolutely love trying on swimsuits. It may not be our favorite thing to do but there are a few things you can do to make the process better.

Tip #1 for making the swimsuit try on process less dreadful…Try them on at home. Whether you order online or pick a few up in store, try them on in the comfort of your house. Why? Because have you seen dressing room lighting? It highlights things that aren’t even there. Plus you will just feel more comfortable and not have the sales people pressuring you to buy something. We’ve all had that experience.

Tip #2… Try a few different styles. Many times we stick to the same styles because we think, why reinvent the wheel? We also don’t want to try on a million different items. I would challenge you to try at least 3 different styles and you never know, you may find one you thought you would never wear.

Tip #3… Choose a bright color. I think sometimes many women opt for black because they think it’s slimming. If this is your tendency, find a swimsuit in your favorite color and see how it makes you feel. Everyone wants to feel good in a swimsuit and who doesn’t feel good in their favorite color.

Tip #4… Mix and match. If you wear a lot of two piece swimsuits, don’t be afraid to mix and match your pieces.Β I am bigger on the bottom than I am up top so a lot of the teeny tiny bottoms don’t work for me. (I’m not really comfortable with letting it all hang out.)Β  So I find a flattering bottom that goes with the top and then I have a one of a kind swimsuit!

Tip #5… Be willing to spend a little $$$ on one good swimsuit. There is something about the more expensive swimsuits, they just fit better. I usually buy one really nice swimsuit (this year was #3 below) every summer and replenish my collection with a couple of inexpensive items. We go to the lake a lot and your swimsuits get gross so I wear one that I don’t mind messing up and save my nicer swimsuits for the pool or beach.

Tip #6… Be confident and remember that we are our own worst critics. The thoughts running through your head on how you think people see you are most likely not running through their heads. They are probably worried about how they look. Just have fun and be confident in who you are!

Eyelet Romper

Good morning friends! I found this romperΒ at Anthropologie last week and fell in love with it. It is super comfortable and super cute, which I believe are the must have C’s when buying new clothes. There’s also your A’s, affordable and amazing; and your B’s, beautiful and beautiful. Oh and don’t forget your D’s, delightful and dannnngggg that’s cute, in my best Tiffany Haddish voice. “She ready!”

…I didn’t sleep well last night you guys.

Okay, I’m better! I got my coffee flowing. Please disregard anything I say before I have my coffee.

That last one is probably slightly true for me. Except it forgot to add mid-morning snack breaks. HA! Back to the super cute, super comfortable romper.

When I bought the romper I was with my sister-in-law and she made the statement that a lot of my girlfriends make when I’m shopping with them and I point out a cute romper. She said, “I can’t do rompers because they never look right on me.” I think the biggest reason people feel that way is because they haven’t found the right fit. Personally, I have a very long waist so that can sometimes be a problem when buying “onesie” anything. It’s all about the fit you guys, which brings us to F. I know we skipped E. (I can’t really think of anything right now.) Seriously, if you are questioning the fit before you buy it, it’s going to hang in your closet and never come out. Do you want to hurt it’s feelings like that? I didn’t think so.

What I do love about this romper (besides the fact that it is freaking CUTE) is the fit. It’s roomy up top and still fits great on women who are less blessed in that area like me; And it will also fit great if you are Dolly Parton. Who doesn’t love Dolly?

I found a few other super cute rompers for different shapes and sizes. Check them out to see if anything strikes your fancy.

Oh yeah…I thought of “E.” Add a little something to your outfit that says “EXTRA.”

Hope y’all are having a great day or at least better than the one I’m obviously having! πŸ˜‰

Tropical Shorts Styled 3 Ways

Happy Friday! Woohoo, it’s the WEEKEND!!! I don’t know about you guys but I’m so excited for the weekend. I feel like I haven’t seen my husband all week because we have been running different directions; so it will be nice to spend some time with him. We normally see each other pretty often compared to some couples and so I think its good for us to miss each each other some. You know what I mean? No? Okay, maybe that’s just me.Β  Anyway…I digress. We are talking about these shorts today .

Zara tropical shorts

I came across these high waisted shorts when I was shopping at ZARA the other day. I thought the color combo was so pretty and I knew there were a few tops already in my closet that I could pair them with. Personally speaking, when I make a wardrobe purchase I have to think about multiple ways to wear the item I’m considering buying, because…BUDGET! Wouldn’t it be nice to go on a shopping spree and the word budget not exist? HA!

When I first picked up the shorts I immediately envisioned what top would look good with them. I looked around the store and didn’t see what I was picturing in my head. (Side note: Y’all, I do this all the time to myself.) Then I remembered…BUDGET. So, I quickly thought of three things I already own that I could wear with them. When you are shopping on a BUDGET like me, I think abiding by the rule of 3 is the way to go. (I’m prettttyyyyy sure I made this up, but it works for me.) Can I wear this item AT LEAST 3 different ways and can I wear it to AT LEAST 3 different occasions/places? For instance with these shorts, I thought of the 3 different ways to style them, then 3 different places I could wear them:Β  casually to run errands, dressed up to go out and they were long enough to wear to church.

I thought a black and white vertical striped shirt would be so cute with the shorts but I couldn’t find one in the store so I just stuck with what I had in my closet.

This black tie front shirt (old) looks super cute with the shorts and animal print shoes always add fun to any outfit. You can find a similar shirt, here and hereΒ and similar shoes here.

I also had this blue and white striped scalloped top in my closet that I thought would look cute and casual with it. You can find something similar hereΒ and here. I picked up the flat sandals at Target last weekend.

The 3rd way I styled these must have shorts is with this SUPER soft yellow tee I had in my closet. The t-shirt comes in so many colors. Do yourself a favor and get at least one. You will want to wear it DAILY it’s so soft! I paired it with the tanΒ wedges everyone is wearing. They really are comfortable and I’m a baby when it comes to uncomfortable shoes.

It was such a pretty day taking these photos but the sun was bright and HOT! I hope you guys like the outfits. You really could wear these shorts so many ways!

I hope you all have a fun and relaxing weekend!!!

Disclaimer: The shorts are not lined so they are a bit see through. I plan to have my seamstress line mine, but you could wear nude undies with them and be okay.

Woven and Textured Bags Under $150

I don’t know about you, but I’m loving all the woven and textured bags for spring and summer. The trend adds just the right amount of fun to any outfit. Whether it’s a neutral straw bag or a colorful beaded one, it can be the pop you need liven up your #OOTD. As with all trends, they come and go, and come again; as been proven by fashion through the decades. Personally, I can’t spend A ton of money (a/k/a very little) on trendy items. That’s why I rounded up some budget friendly, beautiful woven and textured bags for your spring and summer wardrobe. Hint: ZARA has several very cute affordable options. Check them out and HAPPY MONDAY!
